1. The multiple roles of a manager
When you become a manager, you learn to shift your thinking from me to us.
It is no longer a question of worrying about your own contribution and success, but about those of your team.
You understand that it is your responsibility to orchestrate the work of others in order to achieve the set objectives and produce the desired results – together.
However, the role of a manager is not limited to the coordination of the work. There are many other facets, which we will explore together in this module.
In addition, having worked, observed and coached hundreds (maybe even thousands) of managers in my career, I have noticed that some carry a load on their shoulders that is not theirs.
Therefore, we will also focus on what the role of the manager does not include.
